Yea? What so you want

I post a position on Craigslist for an assistant at the salon. I get numerous resumes and emails in response with spelling and grammar errors. Several with now idea what the job was and they had no working knowledge of what would be expected of them. The real prize went to the applicants that answered their phones with.."Yea?! What do you want"

Life changes

Last night I called my grandmother to say  hi and see how my brother was doing. What I heard was, "The number you have reached has been disconnected and is no longer in service." My grandmother has moved out of my childhood home and is no living with my Uncle. I have not had the chance to say goodbye to that old house. The "blue room" where I lived for several years. The breakfast room where my grandmother and I would have tea. The basement where I held my first teen party. All gone and in the hands of the church...(my grandmother deeded the house to the parish). My parents are getting older, I am getting older. Change is horrible when it side swipes you. It takes the breath out of the body and breaks the heart. Time to deal with life.

Can't please everyone all the time

That would be great to believe if it wasn't what I did for a living! There seems to be an idea that hairdressers don't feel horrible when they are unable to meet someone's needs. Like we are heartless and that we intentionally "ruin" someone's hair. That just is not the truth. True, some hairstylists "ruin" hair for lack of experience or neglect but doing it on purpose? That is crazy!
There are stylists like myself that carry the failure around or months. I was unable to meet the needs of a guest this weekend and it actually keeps me up at night. "What could I have done differently?", "Did I not listen?", "Does she actully hate me for doing it?". There are hairstylists that act cold and bitchy but most of use have feelings an when we are not successful, we are sincerely upset when things don't go as planned.
